Internal combustion engine

 How does a 4-stroke engine?

An internal combustion engine is basically a machine that mixesoxygen with the fuel gasified. Once mixed intimately and confined space called a combustion chamber, the gases are ignited to burn (combustion).By design, the engine uses the heat generated by combustion, such as energy to produce rotary motion that we know.Motor Gasoline or AlcoholIn the animated figure below you can see the operation of the 4-stroke engine.1st Halfintake stroke. This opens the intake valves, piston and cylinder low mixed air is filled with fuel.2nd halfcompression stroke. Close the inlet valve, the pistonrises and compresses the air / fuel.3rd Periodexpansion stroke. Compressed mixture is ignitedand the heat generated by the combustion gases expandsexerting pressure on the piston. The 4th time: exhaust stroke. Opens the exhaust valves, the piston moves toward TDC, expelling the burned gases.

For combustion to produce work, its source must be enclosed, and their energy channeled. If a match is about a bowl of gasoline, there will be a violent inflammation, but little more, because the energy generated by combustion is dissipated in all directions.
Thus, the bulk of the automobile engine cylinder block cast in the form is closed at its top.
Inside the cylinder is a piston or plunger that acts as closely adjusted closing the bottom of the cylinder, so that the force of combustion is completely enclosed. At the same time, the piston is free to move downward and upward.

Each time there is combustion, the piston is driven down, and its motion is transmitted through a rotating rod to a crankshaft.
The movement goes from there, and through the exchange and transmission to the wheel or wheels.

However, the top of the cylinder is not fully closed at all times. Two openings (sometimes four) allows the entry of fuel and the expulsion of gases from the combustion.

These holes are opened and closed by valves at appropriate intervals whose movement is controlled by a camshaft, driven (indirectly) by the crankshaft.
This gives the frequency with which the fuel enters the cylinder is proportional to motor speed.Another mechanism, the distributor, also moves to the beat of the engine to the fuel loads that are lit at exact intervals.

All reciprocating engines need an outside force to get going: a starter, a pedal or, in older cars, a hand crank.
From that point, the operation of machines and the times of two is something else.

Many people at some time have had the opportunity to see the outside of motor gasoline (also called "combustion engine" or "internal combustion"), but it is likely that too many of these people may not know its inner workings .When we decided to obtain a license to drive a car or other motor vehicle, in some countries require a test or exam answer where, precisely, are some questions related to the principle of operation of thermal engines of internal combustion either gasoline or diesel.Motor gasoline car or modern automobile. However, as a curiosity, maybe you're interested in you know how a gasoline engine and what parts and pieces that comprise it, but in your shorter-term projects is not precisely obtain a license driving.A gasoline engine is a thermodynamic engine consists of a set of parts or devices and mobile phones, whose main function is to transform the chemical energy produced by combustion provides a mixture of air and fuel into mechanical energy or motion. When there is this transformation of chemical energy into mechanical work can be made useful, for example, moving a motor vehicle as a car or car, or any other mechanism, as it could be an electrical generator.Similarly, the mechanical energy that provides a heat engine can move any other appropriate mechanism that fits the same such as an electrical generator, water pump, the blade of a lawnmower, and so on.Small gasoline engine mated to a lawn mower. In general the internal combustion engines can be of two types, according to the fuel used to operate:Explosion or gasInternal combustion diese you ever compare the parties or structurally fundamental mechanisms that make a gasoline engine and a diesel engine, we see that in many respects are similar, while others are completely different, although in both cases the principle is similar. Both petrol engines and the diesel can be used to perform the same functions, but when great powers need to be developed as needed to move a locomotive, a ship or a generator of electric current generation large capacity are used only diesel internal combustion engines.
